Maram Foundation is a non-profit organization registered in Turkey. Maram is dedicated to providing assistance to refugees and internally displaced persons (IDPs) since the beginning of the Syrian Crisis in 2011.
MF works to provide assistance to the lives of people affected by armed conflict and other situations of violence. We aim to provide cross-sectoral collaborative and sustainable initiatives that bridge humanitarian assistance and development according to the needs of communities living inside and outside Syria.
The Compliance Officer (CO) oversees the foundation overall Compliance Program. Acting as an independent and objective body that reviews and evaluates compliance issues/concerns within the Foundation. The position ensures the Board of Directors, management and staff are in compliance with the rules and regulations of:
- Foundation internal procedures.
- Donors’ producers.
- Host country rules and producers.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops, and revises policies and procedures for the Compliance Program including SoP to prevent illegal, unethical, or improper conduct.
- Develops and periodically reviews and updates Standards of Conduct to ensure continuing currency and relevance in providing guidance to management and employees.
- Collaborates with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Employee Services, Program, etc.) to direct compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.
- Follow-up on the implementation of the Compliance Program and propose appropriate remedy action;
- Works with the Human Resources Department and others as appropriate to develop an effective compliance training program, including appropriate introductory training for new employees as well as ongoing training for all employees and managers.
- Identifies potential areas of compliance vulnerability and risk; develops/implements corrective action plans for resolution of problematic issues, and provides general guidance on how to avoid or deal with similar situations in the future.
- Monitors the performance of the Compliance Program and relates activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.
- performs other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in a study area relevant such as Business Administration, Public Administration; Finance, economics, development or any other related fields; MBA or any relevant post-graduate degree is preferred;
- At least five years of relevant experience, including three-to-two of experience in CSO experiences at a decision-making level.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to transformation knowledge;
- Leadership and problem solvating skills;
- Excellent drafting skills in both languages’ Arabic and English;
- Familiarity with the Syrian conflict, Syrian NGOs, and stakeholders; personal awareness and engagement;
- Arabic and English are required; Turkish is an asset.
