LOGISTICS
Maram Foundation, LOGISTICS GUIDE.
What is LOGISTICS?
MF provides secure, safe, and continuous access to the services of the IDPs campsites which may be interrupted due to road damage or cuts in the winter because of floods and snowstorms. The emergency response within 48 hours to rehabilitate the roads to campsites helps the IDPs, especially the most vulnerable people, save their lives and protect them from any case of GVB or SEA.
Why LOGISTICS?
The logistics interventions have an immediate impact to secure and saving the lives of the IDPs, especially in the harsh weather and snowstorms. It facilitates access to lifesaving services and restores the ability to move to and from the campsites beside the opportunity for the other services providers to deliver their services continuously and in the planned time.
LOGISTICS MISSION
The main objective of the logistics program is the safety of lives and ensuring that services reach the displaced in a safe and continuous manner. And work to open, repair and rehabilitate damaged roads in northwestern Syria. In addition to responding to requests for intervention, which arrive through a wide network of community emergency alert committees spread in the formal and random campsites. Moreover, it provides the campsites’ needs assessment in the targeted locations to identify the gaps in the services and share the needs assessment with the cluster.
LOGICTICS EXPERIENCE
Since the beginning of the revolutionary movement in Syria in 2011, and the spread of Syrian camps in northwestern Syria, the camps have repeatedly and every winter suffered from interruptions of roads and services to these camps, which negatively affects people’s lives and threatens people’s lives, as well as increases the risks of exploitation, domestic violence, and gender-based violence. Interventions were irregular and dependent on self-efforts or the capabilities of organizations serving the camps in which they operate.
In the winter of 2021-2022, Maram, as an implementing partner for the Logistics Cluster, intervened in 18 areas in Aleppo Governorate and opened and rehabilitated 96 km of snow roads and 18 km of roads leading to the camps, serving 186 thousand IDPs and installed 75 hazard signs.
