Syrian Humanitarian Women Network (SHWN)

The project aims to increase the participation, representation, and leadership of Syrian women in humanitarian action and beyond, in particular in the Turkey hub. Through:

1. Establish a formal Syrian Women’s Network on humanitarian action to provide an avenue of peer support and learning for Syrian women working in humanitarian response to share their experiences, discuss issues, challenges, and good practices regarding participation, representation, and leadership, as well as to identify and profile the issues and experiences of Syrian women affected by the Syrian crisis, and seek creative solutions.

2. Provide capacity-building opportunities to Syrian women, in Turkey and Syria, based on identified gaps and needs, to increase knowledge and skills for strengthened advocacy, and representation.

3. Increase women’s participation, representation, and access to decisions making including the Humanitarian Liaison Group, Humanitarian Fund strategic group, in clusters, NGO networks, and regular meetings with the DRHC.

4. Promote the importance of gender equality, women’s empowerment, and gender perspectives in humanitarian planning and response”

The project started in late 2017 until the date and already delivered services to more than 250 Syrian women in Turkey and inside Syria.
